Hantcha is a curious blend of energy and sensitivity. Of Franco-Malagasy origin, the singer is a synergy of several cultures. Inspired by rock and jazz, she imbues her musical universe with the codes of Malagasy music: her guitar sets the rhythm and the harmonies become one with her voice.
I’m a “cultural crossing”, I’m two cultures, two lands. I’m linked to images of mixity that I gladly embrace and also stereotypes I want to distance myself from. My music is an expression of what I observe from this position, and the cascades of emotions as joyful as they are melancholy, sensations as heavy as they are light, and questions as simple as they are convoluted that flow from them.”
